    So by now you may be asking yourself "I'm too broke to Donate money and too (insert your own colorful metaphore here) to actually ride.  I really want to help out, but what can I do?" Now you've got an answer: Be a volunteer! 

    Last year's support crew were fantastic, providing such valuable services as:

  • Helping with Meals
  • Providing Car / Driving Support
  • Making Signs
  • Yelling / Cheering
  • Hosting Training Ride Parties
  • Dispensing Medication
  • Massaging Asses
  • Talking Trash
  • 2006 Volunteer Teams
     
    Volunteer Team Captains: Mark Chiste & Matt Chiste

    Spirit Team:

    Members:  Heather Hopson, Jessica Tingle, Kerri Sasso, Katy Bock, Olivia Warren, Brook Bently, Megan German, Jackie Waholdo, Wylie Eagle, Caroline Branham, Laura Tramuto, Laura McQuilling, Elisa Del Tatto, Rebecah,

    Duties:

    1. Reserve and Place Flags in open area at Lunch, Ranch House, & Left side at the Finish line (Normal Spot)
    2. Have cooler of Gatorade / Water / Beer at Ranch house
    3. Place appropriate direction & spirit signs along MS 150 Bike Route
    4. Decorate Ranch House
    5. Help other volunteers clean up ranch house
    6. Have Cameras / Video Cameras ready at Finish Line
    7. Decorate Buffalo Billiards after we see every Carney Men team members finish

    Meeting Place:

    Day one:

      1. Church @ 5:45 am
      2. Lunch 1st Day @ 9:30 am
      3. Finish placing signs along route and cheering on riders.
      4. Ranch House at 1:30 pm

    Day Two:

      1. Lunch 2nd Day @ 10:00 am
      2. Finish Line @ 12:00 am
      3. Buffalo Billiards (After we see all Carney Men team members finish)

    Ranch Team:

    Members:  Marilyn Jaggard, Emily Flemming, Betsy Burns, Kathy Walsh

    Duties:

    1. Will drive directly to the Ranch House the first day to set up for team dinner and evening
    2. Have cooler of Gatorade / Water / Beer at Ranch House ready for riders when they finish
    3. Cook evening meal
    4. Marilyn Jaggard take calls from riders and support crew in regard to rider condition. May need to take another car to deliver equipment or pick up a rider from a certain location.
    5. Assist sprit and video team in placing signs, taking pictures and assisting others in overflow work
    6. Help to decorate Ranch house
    7. Clean up ranch house
    8. Decorate Buffalo Billiards after we see every Carney Men team members finish
    9. Will shuttle any riders home from race to Merlin house that do not have a ride home from support crew, friends or family.

    Meeting Place:

    Day one:

      1. Church @ 5:45 am
      2. Ranch House 1st Day upon arrival directly from Houston.

    Day Two:

      1. Prepare Breakfast at ranch house 5:30 am
      2. Clean Ranch house
      3. After parking…come to finish line to cheer on team. (Make sure to bring Gatorade/Beer for riders)
      4. Finish Line @ approx 12:00 pm or earlier
      5. Buffalo Billiards (After we see all Carney Men team members finish)

    Video Team:

    Members: Mark Chiste, Matt Chiste, Wylie Eagle, Caroline Branham

    **Mark Chiste will be heading up & directing the crew and assigning filming spots and the places to get the best footage. Video team members will be riding with him.

    Duties:

    1. Video and Interview team at Starting line, Lunch, Ranch House, Finish line & Afterparty
    2. Have cooler of Gatorade / Water / Beer at Ranch house
    3. Make sure to take as much footage as possible
    4. Personal Interviews (ex: why are you riding, how are you feeling..etc)
    5. Help other volunteers clean up ranch house
    6. Have Cameras / Video Cameras ready at Finish Line
    7. Take Digital pictures of ride to be posted on the website and used in Video slide show.
    8. Have fun with riders and people on the ride/ volunteers, support crew etc!! Joke with them and bust their chops!

    Meeting Place:

    Day one:

      1. Church @ 5:45 am
      2. Lunch 1st Day @ 9:30 am
      3. Proceed to Ranch house 1:30 pm where all Carney Men team members will finish the first day. Interview and film after first leg of the ride. (Help them out, pass out Gatorade, beer etc.)

    Day Two:

      1. Lunch 2nd Day @ 10:00 am
      2. Finish Line filming starting @ 12:00 am (Call Hunter or Griff to make sure we are on schedule)
      3. Buffalo Billiards (After we see all Carney Men team members finish)
      4. Film and conduct after-party interviews..(ex: what the finishing the ride meant to people)

    Equipmet Team:

    Members: Brian Osborn, Matt Chiste, Mark Chiste

    Duties:

    1. Will drive trailer from the church starting point to the Ranch House.
    2. Will unload overnight equipment at the ranch house
    3. Have cooler of Gatorade / Water / Beer at Ranch house
    4. Place spirit signs along MS 150 Bike Route
    5. Decorate Ranch House
    6. Help other volunteers clean up ranch house
    7. Have Gatorade & Beer ready at the finish line in Austin for riders
    8. Decorate Buffalo Billiards after we see every Carney Men team member cross the finish line

    Meeting Place:

    Day one:

      1. Church @ 5:45 am
      2. Lunch 1st Day @ 9:00 am
      3. Proceed directly to Ranch House from lunch to unload rider equipment and help the cooking team

    Day Two:

      1. Unload equipment at Buffalo Billiards at 10:00 am
      2. Find parking spot near finish line for Trailer and Car then proceed to the finish line
      3. Bring Coolers of Beer to Finish Line (4 Cases of Beer)
      4. Buffalo Billiards (After we see all Carney Men team members finish)
